“Always protect your queen.”
Ever since the outbreak of the Plague, life hasn’t been easy, and for seventeen-year-old Alice Carroll, it just got worse. Her sister, Dinah, has contracted the ‘un-deadly’ Momerath Virus and without a cure, will soon be worse than dead. She’ll be momerath.
Alice must leave the safety of the Sector and venture into Momerath Territory to find the antidote – if it exists. Chasing a rumor about a mysterious doctor with the cure, Alice falls down the rabbit hole into Wanderland, where ravenous momerath aren’t the only danger lurking.
After reading the above synopsis and giving a glance to the beautiful cover I thought that this retelling of Alice will surely be different as compare to all the retellings so far. That’s why I thought of giving it a try when I received an ARC of the book in exchange of an honest review. I sincerely thank the author for contacting me to review such a great book because this book turned out so much more than what I expected.
“I know,” Alice whined, “it’s just so creepy.” She
shuddered for emphasis.
“That may be true, but it doesn’t make it any less
The story is about a girl named Alice ( just stating the obvious, aren’t I?😂 ) who lives in a world which is threatened by Momerath Virus which has no cure at all and unfortunately her sister Dinah has contracted the the virus. Alice has no one except Dinah in her life. Even though they’re not related by blood they look after each other just like real sisters do. That’s why Alice has to do her best to save her sister no matter what the circumstances are.
There’s more than momerath… there are Carriers too…
people who have the virus, but don’t show it until it’s too
Alice decides to leave the protected sector in search for the antidote which may or may not even exist. During this hunt she unfolds many deep secrets and meets many new people who will play an important role in her life. For the first time in her life she faces conflicting emotions when it comes to guys because before she never talked to people much and maybe she didn’t meet any guy who made her heartbeat skip.
Writing style of J.M Sullivan was truly diverse. I really admire the way she didn’t miss any character from the original classic in her retelling. I am already thrilled to read the second book. I seriously cannot wait to find out what happens next!
I really want every reader to read this book but especially those who loves retellings and of course the original classic- Alice in Wonderland.
