PS: Before I begin the review there are some things which you all must know. Firstly, the first half of the review will be spoiler free i.e, it is for those who still haven’t read this book  (which I really doubt). Whilst the other half will be full of spoilers where I will be giving my opinion of the story, characters (new as well as old) and the writing style of one and only Sarah J. Maas. And readers, please feel free to tell me by commenting  about what you guys thought of the book and whether  you agree with my views or not.

After reading ACOMAF I was REALLY looking forward to read ACOWAR. I had a LOT of expectations from this book because the second book of this series was phenomenal.

As the novel opens, war looms in the kingdom of Prythian. An invading army threatens, led by a mad king.

As the story took pace I noticed that Feyre was cunningly fooling Tamlin and (probably?) was too full of herself which I didn’t like.

A Court of Wings and Ruin is a massive read, clocking in at roughly 700 pages. And I was ready to blaze through these 700 pages as I was literally dying to read this book.

I wish I could say that I loved this book but unfrotunatley I cannot. The book did not dissappoint me completley but there were so many scenes which made me think “Is this SJ Maas’s writing?!” again and again.

*wonders what happened to Sarah J Maas*

I wish I could tell you all about the dissapointing as well as exctiting parts of the book. But well as this is a spoiler free review I won’t spoil the book for you guys! Please go read it and share your thoughts with me!

Full of Spoilers!!

The Plot

The plot is probably the most impressive thing about this book so far. The plot of the story gives you chills and tempts you a LOT. The plot is the only thing besides characters that actually made me finish this book.

The Characters:

Feyre’s character develops in this book. She becomes a total badass and I love her for that. But there were times when she was so full of herself. Especially when she was too occupied with her acting skills or the fact that she is fooling Tamlin very well but because of this she lost control over her powers or what?!

My heart, my soul, my body, my everything. If I could have one book boyfriend, I would pick Rhysand every time. No contest, no questioning, nothing, I’d pick Rhysand instantly. His banter, his sense of humor, his selflessness, his devotion, his unconditional love, his patience, his determination, everything.  I have no words, other than Rhysand is perfection. But I still cannot forget that part when Rhysand died I mean whoa I wasn’t prepared.

And the new ships were soooo sweet my heart couldn’t take everything at once!

What do I say about Tamlin?! I am not excusing his or anyone else’s abuse, ever, but my favorite part of this book was when Tamlin told Feyre to be happy.

“Be happy Feyre,” he said quitely

*my feelings!*

Writing Style

I didn’t mention the drastic change of Mor’s character above as I wanted it to be under Maas’s writing style. I mean WHY did Maas do such a thing to Mor’s character?! She ( I don’t want to say this) ruined a perfect ship! I was rooting for Mor and Azriel.

I was very dissapointed with the writing in this book. It shattered almost all the hopes I had.

I wonder what the next book of this series is going to be like. Do you guys have any random thoughts on the next book? If yesplease let me know in the comments down below!

I would like to thank  Bloomsbury India  for sending me the paperback of the book 🙂

  1. Great Review! I’m sorry this book didn’t meet your expectations! I actually loved it but I do agree with you on some things especially about Mor. I also didn’t see that coming and it felt kinda forced because Miss Maas didn’t give any hints from the start. I think so many people got disappointed when Mor and Azriel’s ship got sinked forever. Besides Feyre and Rhys, Nessian is my favorite OTP so I never gave much thought to the other ships but now I’m very eager for Azriel/Elain/Lucien. It looks like there’s going to be triangle in the next books. Amren love interest came as another huge surprise for me and I was like “when did that happen?” I can totally relate to Tamlin because I used to love that guy until he turned into an obsessive psycho but the ending really made me quite sad for him. I really hope he finds his HEA. There’s so many ships in this series and I’m very very excited for the next spin-off. I’m hoping it was about NESSIAN.

I hope you don’t mind me asking, but could you tell me how to approach bloomsbury india to request a review copy because I really don’t know the right procedure and any tips would be quite helpful for me.
Hope you have a great day and Happy reading! 🙂

    1. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! We really appreciate it! 😀
And we surely don’t mind a fellow blogger asking us about how to get review copies 💕😂 However when it comes to procedures of asking for review copies from Bloomsbury India we barely know anything because it was Bloomsbury who contacted us in the first place! (we’re still not sure how that happened though 😂).
We hope to hear from you soon!❤
